Great stuff, especially for the beginners who are all jacked up and excited. I was that way. I'm still excited about guitars and gear, but I too have let realization set in and only use and purchase what I need to get the job done.

I still have and use my first guitar. It's a Washburn D10CE (something like this).

Sure I have my dreams of what I would really love to play, but this gets the job done, I am familiar with it. I also try to keep a backup around, and those are the only ones I've ever had stolen! My backup is (don't think less of me) now an Esteban! It actually doesn't play too bad considering it was less than $200.
